This is one of huge amout of different routes to drive through Italy. We planned this Italy road trip just for one week, so it's short, but verry beautiful!
In the North-West Tuscany is bordered by Liguria, North with Emilia-Romagna, in the East with Marche and Umbria, in the South — with Lazio. 320 km of the Western coast, washed by the Tyrrhenian sea. Monteriggioni was founded by the Sienese in 1203 as a fortification on a low hill, at the time he performed the function of an Outpost against the Florentines. About 1213-1219 years was built a powerful fortress wall with a total length of approximately 750 metres. In the period of transition from the Romanesque to the Gothic style in Monteriggioni was built the parish Church of St. Mary. But most of Monteriggioni is known for its fourteen towers, towering over the ramparts. These towers are mentioned in Dante Alighieri. From Monteriggioni road trip takes us North-West towards Genoa. To the South of the city of Riviera di Levante (Sunny beach), with its cliffs and coves, picturesque towns and villages. Iced drive down the road the Cliff leads to the enchanting, Cenobio Doge hotel in Camogli. Its terrace overlooking the sea is the ideal place to enjoy an Evening aperitif as the sun sinks into the Mediterranean sea. Steps lead down to the beach where the water is warm enough to swim even in October.From here, a short walk along a colorful promenade leads us to the harbour where ferries leave for Portofino, quintessential, most luxurious, coastal villages often choose the rich and famous, whose super yachts dot the harbour.
Monterosso is a beautiful, wonderful, fairy-tale town. The flavor of the "old" Monterosso fascinates and makes you dream. He falls in love with himself at first sight. Has to be calm and inspiration. Tip: this is the only village in Cinque Terre, where you can leave. Many of the hotels in Monterosso al Mare Parking available (for a fee), but you have to be sure to reserve your seat when you book your room as they go very quickly!
Civitella del Tronto is a historic fortress city in the North-Eastern corner of Italy (Abruzzo). The 500 meter long fortress, the second largest in Europe after the fortress in Salzburg and, of course, an impressive sight, which is visible from afar. Located between the Kingdom of Naples and the Papal state, the fortress played a key role in the political Affairs of the Italian Peninsula in the 13th - 16th centuries. Vieste is a small town in the province of Foggia in the Italian region of Puglia. The whole territory of the commune is part of the national Park "Gargano".
